Blue Jackets' Boll to have hearing for illegal check to head of Ducks' Maroon

Greg Bartram / USA Today

Jared Boll of the Columbus Blue Jackets is being called to account for his actions during Tuesday's game against Anaheim.

Boll will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday for an illegal check to the head of Ducks forward Patrick Maroon, the league announced Wednesday.

Boll hit Maroon early in the second period of the Blue Jackets' 5-3 win. No penalty was assessed on the play and Maroon remained in the game, but upon further review, the league is considering supplemental discipline for an illegal check to the head.

Boll amassed five penalty minutes in the contest after fighting Clayton Stoner shortly after the hit on Maroon.
