Scott Hartnell's eighth career hat trick was the difference as the Columbus Blue Jackets downed the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 Tuesday.

His empty-net goal with just 37 seconds sealed the deal as the Blue Jackets stopped the Ducks from reaching 100 points and the top spot in the league. However, it was his second goal in the second period that was the prettiest.

With the loss, the Ducks remain idle at 99 points, keeping them in a four-way tie for the second highest total in the league (behind the Montreal Canadiens) along with the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues

Meanwhile, Hartnell now has 25 goals and 53 points in 68 games.
