Jets' Hutchinson to spell red-hot Pavelec on Tuesday vs. Canucks

Bruce Fedyck / USA TODAY Sports

The Winnipeg Jets will give the red-hot Ondrej Pavelec the night off, starting Michael Hutchinson in the second half of their back-to-back Tuesday versus the Vancouver Canucks

Hutchinson's nod is his first since allowing three goals on 19 shots in a loss to the Florida Panthers on March 12.

Pavelec has stopped 146-of-151 shots faced in five starts since Hutchinson's last appearance, including 33 saves in a win over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night, effectively lifting the Jets back into firm postseason position.

Though he's posted forgettable numbers in the month of March, Hutchinson still owns commendable rookie numbers. He is 20-9-5 with a 2.41 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.
