Going three games without scoring a goal is normal for most players, but Alex Ovechkin is not most players.

The Washington Capitals captain scored twice for his first goals in four games Thursday against the Minnesota Wild, extending his league-leading total to 47.

Ovechkin collected his own rebound in the slot and fired it past Devan Dubnyk with 4:35 remaining in the second period for the opening goal of Thursday's contest. He added his second of the game - which stood as the winning tally - 3:05 into the third period when he surprised Dubnyk with a one-timer off a faceoff.

Ovechkin is the only player in the league with more than 40 goals. Steven Stamkos and Rick Nash are tied for second place, eight shy of Ovechkin.
