In a Sunday afternoon game that had no playoff implications, the Edmonton Oilers squared off against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The contest turned into a high-scoring affair, with the Hurricanes winning 7-4.

The Oilers looked to have the game under control after an early 3-0 lead. However, the Hurricanes offense caught fire and scored six unanswered goals before Ryan Nugent-Hopkins potted his third of the game - his second career hat trick - to close the gap at 6-4.

The game's first star went to the Hurricanes' Elias Lindholm who recorded his first career hat trick. He also added two assists.

The win gives the Hurricanes 57 points on the season, while the Oilers' loss keeps them at 47 points.
