VIDEO: Zetterberg hits Abdelkader with stretch pass for icebreaker vs. Flames

So this is life in the post-Mark Giordano era.

After a collaborative effort saw the Calgary Flames offset the loss of their captain in Thursday's win over the Boston Bruins, the back end started showing some cracks Friday against the Detroit Red Wings.

Three minutes into the game, Justin Abdelkader leaked out of his own zone unbeknownst to Dennis Wideman, and Henrik Zetterberg sent him on a breakaway with a masterful pass from deep in his own end.

They picked on Wideman again just a few minutes later, with Zetterberg firing a cross-crease feed onto the stick of Abdelkader, who shoveled it in the net behind the Flames' veteran for his second goal of the game.

Erik Cole picked up his first two points with the Red Wings, notching the secondary assist on each Abdelkader goal.
