VIDEO: Red Wings' Howard spins around to swat wild puck away from crease

Rick Osentoski / USA Today

Jimmy Howard made his most impressive save in the Detroit Red Wings' 2-1 overtime victory over the New York Rangers Wednesday on a shot that missed the net.

A Ryan McDonagh point shot deflected over the net, bounced high off the glass and fluttered back towards Detroit's crease. Howard spotted the puck as he spun around and hit it with his blocker while falling to the ice, clearing the puck out of the slot with Martin St. Louis waiting on the doorstep.

Howard finished with 39 saves for the Red Wings, who won their third consecutive game.
