It didn't take long for Columbus Blue Jackets forward David Clarkson to get a chance to make an impact with his new team.

Clarkson practiced with the Blue Jackets for the first time Saturday following Thursday's trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He joined Nick Foligno and Ryan Johansen on the top line in practice, the team announced. Clarkson is expected to play with the unit in Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

Foligno is in the midst of a career year with 23 goals and 32 assists in 58 games, while Johansen has 21 goals and 32 assists in 60 contests.

Clarkson registered 15 points in 58 games with the Maple Leafs, but had only two points in the last 22 contests and was held pointless in the last nine games prior to the trade.
