Sexy enough, Barry Trotz?

The Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals have reportedly engaged in trade discussions centered around Patrick Sharp, according to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.

This season's Winter Classic combatants are two teams thought to be actively pursuing the trade market in an effort to upgrade before the deadline, but Washington's head coach shared doubts that there was a real difference-maker available.

Washington is said to be in the market for a top-line winger to play alongside Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, while the Blackhawks are apparently intent on spending the allocation money awarded from Patrick Kane's regular season-ending injury.

Sharp, a seven-time 20-goal scorer and two-time Stanley Cup champion, fills the criteria set forth by the Capitals. But in the absence of Kane, you would think he'd be invaluable to the Blackhawks moving forward.
