Panthers' Petrovic expects Blackhawks to seek revenge following injury to Kane

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Alex Petrovic is a realist.

As he and his Florida Panthers teammates prepare for their second game in three nights against the Chicago Blackhawks, the defenseman expects a measure of backlash after an innocuous-looking cross check led to a serious injury for Patrick Kane.

"Tonight, obviously, the Blackhawks are going to come out hard and probably seek revenge or whatnot," Petrovic said Thursday, according to Matthew Scianitti of TSN. "It's unfortunate that it happened."

By the league's standards, Petrovic's role in the incident didn't warrant anything more than the two-minute minor assessed for the cross check.

His PIM total, however, may be set to rise by at least five for fighting, and he'll be prepared if the challenge presents itself.
