Into the Wild: Bergenheim skates on top line in advance of Minnesota debut

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

Sean Bergenheim has gone from a healthy scratch in Florida to a top-line winger in Minnesota.

The forward, acquired earlier this week from the Panthers for a third-round pick, skated on the Wild's top line in practice Thursday ahead of his debut with the club.

The Wild, one point out of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, will face off against the league-leading Nashville Predators, and Bergenheim appears set to start the contest alongside Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek.

Bergenheim scored eight goals in 39 games for Florida, and is best known for scoring nine goals in 16 playoff games in 2011 as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

If this line assignment sticks, it could be another spring to remember.
