NHL Game Summary - Philadelphia at Carolina

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Faulk tallied a goal and an assist to power the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

Jordan Staal, Jay McClement and Jeff Skinner all scored, and Alexander Semin supplied two assists for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their last three games.

Cam Ward stopped 23-of-24 shots in his 500th NHL game.

"It was clear that our guys wanted to put in a really strong effort tonight," said Ward.

Nicklas Grossmann accounted for the Flyers' lone score and Rob Zepp made 31 saves in defeat.

"I'm baffled," Philadelphia head coach Craig Berube said. "We didn't execute very well at all and lacked energy in the game."

Skinner put the Hurricanes back in front 2-1 just 2:16 into the second period as he tapped Semin's cross-ice feed into the back of the net.

After Chris VandeVelde went off for tripping, Staal's wrister in tight increased Carolina's lead to 3-1 with 4:05 left in the second.

McClement accounted for the final score with 5:23 to play as he took Brad Malone's slick feed from behind the net and wristed a shot over Zepp.

The Hurricanes cashed in on an early power play as Faulk one-timed Eric Staal's feed past Zepp from the left circle just 7:29 into the game.

Jakub Voracek slid a pass back to Grossmann, who moved up to the left circle and tied the game on a wrister with 2:14 left in the first.
