Jets trade Kane, Bogosian to Sabres for Myers, 1st-rounder in 7-player deal

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets were hard at work Wednesday morning and completed a massive seven-player deal that sends Winnipeg's Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian to Buffalo, the Jets announced.

Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and a first-round pick - the lowest of the three Buffalo owns, according to TSN's Darren Dreger - are headed to Winnipeg.

Unsigned goalie Jason Kasdorf is also headed to Buffalo as part of the trade.

Armia and Lemieux are considered two of the Sabres' top prospects on the wing. The former was drafted 16th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, and has 10 goals and 15 assists in 33 games for the AHL's Rochester Americans. The latter - a second round pick in 2014 and son of four-time Stanley Cup champion Claude Lemieux - is playing with the OHL's Barrie Colts, scoring 35 goals in 46 games.

Bogosian and Myers are both products of the first round of the 2008 Draft, with close to 400 career games each on their resumes.

The principal player, of course, is Kane, who has been at the center of a series of unfortunate events in Winnipeg as of late, and will be on the shelf for the next four-to-six months with a shoulder injury.
