Stars' Nemeth making quick recovery from apparent season-ending injury

Robert Mayer / USA TODAY Sports

Patrik Nemeth's season-ending injury appears to have healed quicker than expected.

The Dallas Stars defenseman skated without a no-contact jersey in practice Thursday, seemingly bumping up his expected recovery date after being sidelined with a laceration on his arm back in October.

The team will check his progress again next week in hopes he'll be able to suit up again this season, according to Mark Stepneski of Stars Inside Edge.

The second-round pick of the Stars in 2010 was held pointless in five games to start to the season, but was a key member of the AHL's Calder Cup-winning Texas Stars last spring.
