Coyotes GM: Only untouchable is Shane Doan; Ekman-Larsson can be acquired

The Arizona Coyotes have emerged as a true seller in advance of the NHL's trade deadline.

Speaking on TSN1200 in Ottawa on Friday, Coyotes general manager Don Maloney stated there's only one untouchable on the roster - captain Shane Doan. Even if a deal could be worked out, Doan appears quite comfortable in the desert and has no desire to move on.

Antoine Vermette has been widely discussed and is believed to be available for a first-round draft pick and a prospect, while Keith Yandle remains another tantalizing option for buyers.

Also on the list of potential trade candidates is Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who Maloney admitted can be had if the price is right.

Drafted sixth overall by the Coyotes in 2009, the 23-year-old continues to emerge as an elite-level defenseman and would surely be coveted by many,  if not all, 29 teams around the league.

Based on the asking price for Vermette, however, the cost would be significant, opening the door for a blockbuster-type trade that's all too rare in today's NHL.
