Sens' Ryan on possibly being last All-Star Draft pick: 'I really don’t want a Kia'

Bobby Ryan isn't looking to leave Columbus with any consolation prizes.

As part of the pool of All-Star players set to be selected to Team Toews or Team Foligno on Friday, the Ottawa Senators forward faces the prospect of being the last man standing. While the distinction comes with a new car, it's not enough to balance out the embarrassment.

"I’m looking forward to it, I’m just hoping I don’t go last ... I really don’t want a Kia," Ryan told Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen. "Although if it happened, I’m not going to be upset about it. Mom will have a nice ride."

Ryan added he's planning to get in the ear of a former teammate to get a good word put in on his behalf.

"I’ve got to text (Ryan Getzlaf) to make sure we’re still friends, because I know he’s got a little say in the Toews team," he said. "I said I would be a mid-round steal. That would be ideal for me."

Ryan - who sits in a tie for the Senators lead in points with Erik Karlsson - has recorded 12 goals and 21 assists in 43 games and will be appearing in his first All-Star Game.
