(SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars take aim at a third straight victory on Tuesday night while trying to prevent the Boston Bruins from getting back on track following the end of a lengthy winning streak.
Seguin was one of five goal-scorers in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. It was Dallas' second consecutive win and third in four games following an 0-2-2 slide.
Cody Eakin paced the way with his first career two-goal game, while Vernon Fiddler, Erik Cole and Shawn Horcoff also scored. Jamie Benn had three assists and Kari Lehtonen posted 38 saves.
"We just wanted to get the job done tonight. It was all that was on our minds and we found a way to win," Benn noted.
Seguin, meanwhile, is tied for the NHL lead with 28 goals after posting 37 tallies and 84 points in 80 games last season with the Stars. That was his first with Dallas after the club acquired him from Boston in a big trade on July 4, 2013.
Seguin had spent his first three seasons with the Bruins after they made him the second overall pick of the 2010 draft. He has two assists in two previous games versus his former club.
Boston will look to keep Seguin without a goal tonight and rebound after having a five-game win streak snapped with Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, which got two goals from Matt Calvert over the final 3:03 of the game.
Carl Soderberg produced the lone goal for the Bruins, while Tuukka Rask stopped 28 pucks in defeat.
Boston had a nine-game point streak (6-0-3) halted with its first regulation loss since Dec. 27, also versus Columbus.
"They won more battles than we did, so they were a more determined team than we were," noted Bruins head coach Claude Julien. "I'm disappointed we didn't come to play harder than we did tonight."
Soderberg picked up his 10th goal of the season as Boston played without forward Brad Marchand, who leads the club with 12 goals. Marchand was serving the first of a two-game suspension for a slew-foot incident on Thursday versus the New York Rangers and will be eligible to return when the Bruins visit Colorado on Wednesday.
The Bruins have won four of six and seven of their past 11 versus the Stars and will host the club on Feb. 10.
Lehtonen is 7-6-0 in his career versus the Bruins with a 2.45 goals against average and .917 save percentage, while Rask is 1-0-1 against the Stars with a 2.40 GAA and .928 save percentage.
