Report: Canucks' Miller will start Saturday

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Canucks will turn to usual starter Ryan Miller on Saturday against the Calgary Flames, according to TSN's Jeff Paterson.

Miller's start on Saturday isn't a surprise, but it is worth noting since Miller has struggled enormously this season and since the club gave Eddie Lack a so-called "scheduled start" on Wednesday against the Dallas Stars

Lack's start on Wednesday caused eyebrows to furrow all across Vancouver this week, a city with a long, rich tradition of hyping goaltending controversies.

In 23 starts this season Miller has amassed a solid 16-7-0 win/loss record, but his .900 save percentage is one of the worst marks by an everyday starter in the league this season. Lack, meanwhile, hasn't received nearly the same level of run support that Miller has enjoyed in his eight starts, but his .916 save percentage suggests that he's been the better goaltender this season.
