Devils snap 5-game losing streak, Kinkaid earns 1st career win

Ed Mulholland / USA TODAY Sports

Keith Kinkaid picked up his first career NHL win as the New Jersey Devils put an end to their five-game losing skid with a 3-2 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.

Kinkaid stopped 26-of-28 shots in regulation and overtime, then made saves on Lightning forwards Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov and Jonathan Drouin in the shootout.

The goaltender said he doesn't quite remember making the final save.

"It felt like slow mo," he told reporters after the game. "I saw the puck coming in and I think I got a really good piece of it and then blacked out."

Kinkaid's teammates mobbed him after he stopped Drouin to preserve the victory.
