Sidney Crosby is almost back from a bout with the mumps.
The Pittsburgh Penguins' superstar skated on the first line at practice in advance of Thursday's game against the Colorado Avalanche, but is awaiting official word from team doctors that he's ready to suit up for the game.
Crosby has not played since Dec. 8, missing three games so far.
