Raanta will remain with the Blackhawks as the team sent down Scott Darling to AHL Rockford on Tuesday, CSN Chicago reports.

Analysis:

The decision to keep Raanta up with the big club and send Darling down to Rockford was a tough one. The move was made with the anticipation that starting goalie Corey Crawford will return this weekend after missing a few weeks with a foot injury. While Crawford was out, Darling actually had more starts, likely for the Blackhawks to have ample opportunity to see what he could do at the NHL level. Unless Crawford sustains another injury, Raanta will most likely only see an occasional start, despite having played well with a 5-2 record, a 2.01 GAA and a .938 save percentage. Even with the return of Crawford, Raanta could start in a back-to-back scenario this weekend, Saturday against Columbus and potentially Sunday against Toronto.
