Panthers coach Gallant cancels Wednesday practice following marathon shootout

Head coach Gerard Gallant is rewarding the Florida Panthers with some time off after they emerged victorious in their record-breaking shootout against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.

Gallant cancelled Wednesday's practice following the 20-round marathon that saw some players shoot twice. The Panthers hit the road for games in Philadelphia on Thursday and Pittsburgh on Saturday, so they could use the rest.

Each of Florida's last three games have gone beyond regulation.
