Analysis:

After suffering shootout losses in each of his last two turns, Howard was rested for the second game of the Red Wings' back-to-back over the weekend in favor of backup Petr Mrazek. Despite an inability to come away with victories of late, Howard's play hasn't seemed to deteriorate in December. He owns a 2.15 GAA and .915 save percentage in his five starts this month.
