Analysis:

The time has come for the talented Russian playmaker with Torrey Mitchell exiting Monday's game with a lower-body injury. Grigorenko has seven goals and 12 assists to go with 21 penalty minutes for AHL Rochester this season, and his on-ice performance has vastly improved over the past two years during which he's bounced from league to league. Grigorenko should be used in a scoring role by head coach Ted Nolan, but needs to earn his coach's trust first. Nolan made Grigorenko a healthy scratch in his previous stints with Buffalo but noted the youngster's flair of the offensive. Grigorenko's a risky play and a short-term option so stand pat until he really shows something.
