Analysis:

Pickard has been superb in both of his previous two starts since returning from the minors in the wake of Semyon Varlamov's groin injury, clipping the Jets in a shootout victory Thursday and taking a narrow defeat to the Predators on Tuesday. After Saturday's contest, the Avalanche will be off the schedule until next Thursday, so coach Patrick Roy shouldn't hesitate to go with Pickard for the third time in five days.
