Blues' decision on Martin Brodeur won't come until after Tuesday

Future Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur will get a few more opportunities to impress the St. Louis Blues' brass, according to general manager Doug Armstrong.

Armstrong was satisfied with Brodeur's showing Friday in practice and will work him out Monday and Tuesday before making a decision on a contract.

"Father time will catch up to everybody at some point," Armstrong said. "Marty doesn't believe it's caught up to him yet."

Brodeur was admittedly nervous for his Blues tryout, while center Maxim Lapierre was nervous for a different reason.

The Blues asked Lapierre if he could give Brodeur a lift to the rink, as they are both from Saint-Leonard, Quebec. The two didn't know each other, but Lapierre was more than willing, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

"I'm not going to lie ... I was pretty nervous. It was the first time I feel kind of shy a little bit," Lapierre said.

Brodeur, 42, was given a vote of confidence from head coach Ken Hitchcock after practice.
