Senators will consider allowing Lazar to play for Team Canada at World Juniors

Ottawa Senators rookie forward Curtis Lazar may get the opportunity to represent his country at the 2015 World Junior Championships.

General manager Bryan Murray indicated Wednesday that the club will consider loaning Lazar – drafted 17th overall in 2013 – to Team Canada for the under-20 tournament, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports

Murray cites the fact the 19-year-old could be in line to serve as captain, affording him some valuable experience in a leadership position among high-end talent.

The former Edmonton Oil King recorded three goals and seven assists for Canada at last year's tournament.
