Report: Oilers' Perron could be traded 'in the next few days'

David Perron's got to go.

The Edmonton Oilers' winger "could be moved in the next few days," writes Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman

The Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets were reported to be talking trade late Tuesday night, with Perron's and Artem Anisimov's names being mentioned (you can read details about that report in the post below this one), but Friedman speculates that other teams could be in the Perron mix: Montreal, Ottawa, and Pittsburgh.

The Canadiens’ interest in Perron has been reported before. From what I understand, the biggest obstacle for Montreal might be what the Oilers need — centres and defenders. Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin says you can never have enough of either. ...

Another situation to watch out for: Pittsburgh, looking for wingers. I’d thought the Senators, too, especially if they give up on trying to sign Marc Methot. He’d be perfect for Edmonton, but one source threw cold water on that, indicating Ottawa is looking for size as much as anything else.

Perron had a career season in Edmonton in 2013-14, scoring a personal-best 28 goals and finishing with 57 points, while averaging over 19 minutes of ice time a game. He has only two goals and eight assists in 21 games this season, and he's voiced his frustration as the Oilers' losses continue to mount.

Edmonton "would like to make a move," Friedman concludes, and it seems that Perron may be the most likely candidate to be moved, as his name swirls in rumors.

The 26-year-old is under contract through next season at a NHL salary of $4.5 million and a cap hit of $3,812,500, according to Cap Geek
