Red Wings scratch Cleary to facilitate Weiss return

Jerome Miron / USA Today

Following a three-game run in the Detroit Red Wings' lineup, Daniel Cleary will check back out Monday to facilitate the return of Stephen Weiss.

Cleary has been tapped for six games in November, registering two points and a minus-2 rating, while Weiss spent the better part of the month in Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.

Weiss has only played one NHL game in the last 11 months  - Oct. 18 against the Toronto Maple Leafs - after battling injury and beginning this season serving primarily as a healthy scratch.

The pair combine for a $6.4-million hit against Detroit's cap this season.
