Rich Barnes / USA TODAY Sports

The AHL's Syracuse Crunch played host to a record-breaking hockey event on Saturday.

The Crunch faced off against the Utica Comets in the Carrier Dome on the campus of Syracuse University in front of 30,715 fans, setting a new attendance record for an indoor professional hockey game in the United States.

The Crunch, the minor-league affiliate for the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, defeated the Comets, who serve in  the same role for Vancouver Canucks. The Crunch won with a score of 2-1 in the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic.

Here are the highlights and a few photos from the event.
