NHL Game Summary - Carolina at Colorado

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Redmond's second goal of the game came with 1:35 to play as the Colorado Avalanche grabbed a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist and Erik Johnson also scored for the Avalanche, who have won three of four.

Reto Berra was pulled less than 17 minutes into the start after giving up three goals on 10 shots. Calvin Pickard turned aside all 17 shots he faced in relief to pick up the first win of his career.

Nathan Gerbe, Andrej Nestrasil and John-Michael Liles all scored for the Hurricanes, who have lost five of six.

"We started this game the way we wanted to," said Liles. "Give them credit for battling back because I think we let our foot off the gas."

Trailing by a goal, the Avalanche tied the game with 5:17 to play as Iginla's quick shot from the right circle found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

With time winding down, the Avs went ahead when Iginla fed a short pass from the low left side to the right circle where a pinching Redmond one-timed it home for the game-winner.

"We were talking about this on the power play and this is something we plan on," said Redmond. "He fed me a perfect pass. It's a win and a big two points."

Carolina got on the board just 3:48 in as Liles' one-timer from the left circle on a rush beat Berra for his first of the season, and Gerbe made it 2-0 just over a minute later when he wristed one home during a scrum in front.

Colorado got one back with 9:08 to play in the first as Redmond's shot from a sharp angle at the left side found the net, but Carolina got it back six minutes later as Nestrasil's wrister from the right wing on a rush chased Berra from the net.

The only goal of the second period went to Colorado when Johnson's heavy shot from the left circle went in at 8:25.
