Penguins' Bortuzzo appears to headbutt Islanders' Martin

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Penguins welterweight Robert Bortuzzo is capable of holding his own when the gloves come off. According to hockeyfights.com voters, Bortuzzo hasn't lost, or even tied, a hockey fight since April of 2013 - and he's fought seven times in the intervening period.

On Friday night Bortuzzo fought New York Islanders tough Matt Martin, who is similarly gifted at the pugilistic arts, and for whatever reason appears to have resorted to some low, brawling tactics.

On multiple occasions during the fight, Bortuzzo appeared to be trying to headbutt his opponent, which definitely isn't legal (neither is fighting, technically, but let's not get too hung up on that).

See the evidence for yourself:

Bortuzzo was obviously very upset that the Penguins Store was out of personalized license plates. No, wait, that joke's too obvious. Let's try this again.

Talk about a tete offensive!

Could Bortuzzo, who hasn't been subject to supplementary discipline in his career despite a couple of close calls, be hearing from the Department of Player Safety as a result of not using his head (or wait...)?
