Saturday Night Fantasy Wraparound: Seguin, Crosby remain weekend warriors

Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

The Good

F Sidney Crosby - Penguins

  • Another weekend, another appearance on theScore's Fantasy Wraparound for the game's greatest player. Crosby assisted on five straight Penguins goals as Pittsburgh beat up on Buffalo.

F Tyler Seguin - Stars

  • Likewise, Seguin starred again Saturday, scoring his second hat trick of the season in a 5-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Amazingly, Seguin is only one trick shy of the team record held by Mike Modano just 94 games into his tenure with the franchise.

F Johnny Gaudreau - Flames

  • The rookie sensation capped a career day with an empty-net goal to go along with two assists in a win over the Florida Panthers. Gaudreau is now closing on the rookie lead in points held by Filip Forsberg after being held scoreless through the first five games of the season.

F Claude Giroux - Flyers

  • Overshadowed by the brilliance of Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds this season, Giroux reclaimed some glory in a win over the Colorado Avalanche. The Flyers' captain scored two goals, three points, and registered seven shots on goal.

D Brent Burns - Sharks

  • Burns is rediscovering his offensive form on the Sharks' blue line. The defenseman-turned-forward-turned-defenseman scored two goals -  including the game winner - over the Stars and now has five in seven games.

D Jake Muzzin - Kings

  • Muzzin marked up his stat line effectively as L.A. beat up on the Canucks. He registered a goal, two points, two penalty minutes, four shots, four hits, three blocks, and a plus-1 rating.

G Jonas Hiller - Flames

  • Hiller needed only nine saves, but won his seventh game of the season against the Panthers. Calgary scored three unanswered goals in the third period in response to Karri Ramo being yanked late in the second.

G Ondrej Pavelec - Jets

  • The Jets' netminder continued his resurgent play, steering aside 37 shots through regulation and overtime before denying six more opportunities in the shootout for his seventh win of the season. Pavelec hasn't suffered a regulation loss in eight starts.

G Jaroslav Halak - Islanders

  • It's been a difficult start to his career on Long Island, but Halak is beginning to find his footing with the Islanders. Halak recorded a 17-save shutout over the Coyotes and now has two straight victories after a four-game slide.

The Bad

G Ryan Miller - Canucks

  • The NHL's top free-agent acquisition through a month's play was blitzed by the Kings, allowing four goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Eddie Lack after 40 minutes.

F Steven Stamkos - Lightning

  • When the Lightning feast, Stamkos is the first in line at the buffet, right? Not this time. Stamkos mustered a single assist in a 7-4 thrashing of the Blue Jackets.

The Ugly

F Radim Vrbata - Canucks

  • Sleeping on Vrbata has haunted many fantasy players this season, but those who didn't may be waking up to some unpleasant news Sunday. Vrbata exited in the third period of Saturday's loss for unspecified reasons.
