The Good

F Frans Nielsen - Islanders

  • A hard-boiled detective who takes no prisoners, Dennis Frans Nielsen scored a hat trick in the New York Islanders' 7-5 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday evening. Nielsen finished with three goals, six shots, a plus-2 rating and a hit thrown for good measure.

F Sidney Crosby - Penguins

  • Sidney Crosby scored a goal, tacked on two assists, finished a plus-1, took two shots on goal and threw three hits in Pittsburgh's 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators.

D Doug Hamilton - Bruins

  • Boston Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton had something of a statement game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The young blue-liner was second among Bruins defenders in time on ice and managed a goal, two assists, a power-play point, four shots on goal and three hits.

F Zemgus Girgensons - Sabres

  • Buffalo forward Zemgus Girgensons didn't have a huge fantasy night, but it's worth highlighting the five hit, two shot, one assist, plus-1 rating performance he put in during the Sabres' 2-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks anyway. The 20-year-old Girgensons isn't there yet, but this guy is going to be a Dave Backes quality fantasy player in short order and his performance is worth keeping an eye on.

G Carey Price - Canadiens

  • The Montreal Canadiens were a better team than the New York Rangers were and richly deserved their two points. It certainly helped that Carey Price stopped 34-of-35 shots faced though.

F Bobby Ryan - Senators

  • Bobby Ryan did his best imitation of a multi-cat fantasy beast, scoring a goal and adding an assist, putting up two power-play points, taking four shots on goa, and throwing three hits in a losing effort.

F Zach Parise - Wild

  • Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise managed a goal and an assist, put up a plus-2 rating and took five shots on goal. That's a ho-hum night for the volume shooter these days, as he's totaled 36 shots in Minnesota's first six games of the season.

The Bad

F John Tavares, F Kyle Okposo - Islanders

  • Kyle Okposo and John Tavares fantasy owners got back from a night of drinking, looked at NHL scores, and thought, "Woo hoo seven goals for the Islanders - big night for me!"

Then they checked and realized Tavares and Okposo combined for one assist (Okposo's), one hit (Okposo's) and two shots on goal (one apiece). "Awww man ..."

F Jonathan Drouin - Lightning

  • Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin still has three point in four games in the first week of his NHL career, but he managed no goals, no points, no shots, no hits and a minus-2 rating in Tampa Bay's 7-2 loss to the Wild.

The Ugly

G Anders Lindback - Stars

  • Dallas Stars backup goaltender Anders Lindback allowed six goals against on 28 shots faced for an atrocious .768 save percentage. We sincerely hope you didn't pick him up on waivers because you needed to hit your minimum start allotment ...
