Sharks' Marleau records 500th career assist

Patrick Marleau inched closer to 1,000 career points by recording his 500th career assist Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Marleau was credited with the secondary assist on Joe Pavelski's power-play goal in the first period, raising his career total to 941 points in 1,254 games. The 35-year-old entered Thursday's contest with nine points in seven games.
