1998 - Mark Messier scores 600th goal

Mark Messier becomes just the 10th player in NHL history to reach the 600-goal plateau as the Vancouver Canucks shut out the Florida Panthers 5-0.

He reaches the milestone having already recorded 900 assists, becoming the fourth player in league history to score 600 goals with at least 1,500 points.

Over two more years in Vancouver and his return to the New York Rangers for the final four seasons of his legendary career, Messier adds 94 goals to his total and finishes with 1,887 points for his career, second-most all-time.

1983 - Rich Sutter adds to family legacy

Rich joined Brian, Darryl, Duane, Brent, and Ron, becoming the sixth Sutter brother to score a goal at the NHL level while playing for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rich's goal makes the Sutters the first family in league history to produce six goal-scorers at the NHL level, improving on the record of five they already held exclusively.

Second generation Sutters Brandon, Brett, and Brody eventually reach the NHL, adding to the family's hockey-rich legacy.
