The Los Angeles Kings appear to be in full support of the National Hockey League's decision to levy an indefinite suspension on Slava Voynov after the defenseman was arrested Monday on domestic violence accusations.

"I don't think there's any question that we're behind what the league has done," general manager Dean Lombardi stated Tuesday, according to Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider.

“Absolutely it was appropriate,” said head coach Darryl Sutter to Rich Hammond of the Orange Country Register.

Lombardi is unsure of what the suspension means for Voynov's future as well. "I mean there are so many things – Slava certainly has his rights. Then you have the process that the police and their investigation, and then you’ve got the league investigation, then you’ve got the issues about “OK, how long does this go?’ So we’re kind of in limbo until this process plays out."

When asked if he spoke to the players about domestic violence issues, Sutter added, "The players are like my kids. I am sure you talk to your kids about these issues."

He also stated the club never had any problems with Voynov either on or off the ice, pointing out he had never even been late for practice.

Hockey-wise, the Kings are seeking clarification regarding how long the suspension will last and how it affects their salary cap and roster flexibility. While fully supporting the decision of the league, Lombardi knows the investigation - done properly - is the right move.

"... when looking at it in the past with these other guys, it was over within like two, three days," Lombardi said. "There were never any charges filed, and…the guy was playing the next day. But obviously that was clearly to get it out of the way, there was no intent to find out."

Voynov has not yet been charged with any crime, and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 1.
