Florida Panthers (1-2-2) at Colorado Avalanche (1-4-1), 9 p.m. (ET)

(SportsNetwork.com) - Both the Florida Panthers and Colorado Avalanche try to pick up just their second victory of the season on Tuesday night as the struggling clubs meet at Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche have lost three in a row since securing their only win of the season on Oct. 13, while the Panthers failed on Saturday at an attempt for a second straight win.

Florida recorded a 1-0 win over Buffalo on Friday thanks to 26 saves by Roberto Luongo, but dropped a 2-1 shootout decision to Washington the following night.

All three Capitals skaters beat Al Montoya in the shootout -- Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom with snap shots to the stick side and Alex Ovechkin with a nice shoulder fake that sent the Panthers goalie to the ice.

Brad Boyes had a goal and Montoya made 27 saves in his first start for the Panthers, who fell to 1-2-2. Boyes' game-tying goal on the power play 4:27 into the third period was just Florida's fifth goal of the season.

"We didn't have a great first two periods," said Florida coach Gerard Gallant. "We were OK but not good enough. But in the third period we picked it up."

The Panthers are unlikely to have center Dave Bolland in the lineup for a second straight tilt due to a lower-body injury that also held him out of Saturday's game.

Luongo should get the start tonight in the third contest of a four-game road trip and is 19-15-5 with a 2.62 goals against average and .912 save percentage in his career versus Colorado.

The Avalanche hope to avoid a fourth straight setback and have lost two straight in regulation since an overtime loss to Toronto on Oct. 14. They were bested 3-2 by Montreal on Saturday, falling to 1-4-1 on the year.

Alex Tanguay and Matt Duchene lit the lamp for Colorado and Calvin Pickard made 33 stops in defeat.

"We had 10 good scoring chances and of the 10, seven of them missed the net," Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said. "We have to be much better around their net and put more pucks on their net to make their goalie work a little more."

Pickard was appearing in his second straight game after he relieved an injured Reto Berra 2:46 into Thursday's loss to Ottawa. He made 23 saves in his NHL debut.

Berra, who left due to a head/neck injury, could return to action tonight, while No. 1 goaltender Semyon Varlamov is in line to return on Friday versus Vancouver. He landed on injured reserve Thursday due to a groin ailment.

The Panthers and Avalanche split two meetings last season, with Florida's 4-1 loss in Colorado marking the club's fifth setback in seven trips to Denver.
