Presented by DraftKings: This Tuesday: $75,000 fantasy hockey contest

The NHL season has kicked off and DraftKings is making it a lot more exciting this Tuesday. The “Light the Lamp” contest is the largest fantasy contest of the NHL season so far and pays a $10,000 first place prize. Draft your team by selecting two centers, three wings, two defensemen, a goalie, and a utility player (any skater).

If you have never played on DraftKings before, selecting your team is different from traditional season-long league. You are given a $50,000 salary cap to build your roster for the night, where each player is given a value based on their past and expected performance. Below are more details on the rosters and scoring:

TEAM ROSTERS

* Rosters will consist of 9 players and must include skaters (non-goalies) from at least three different NHL teams.

* The 9 roster positions are W, W, W, C, C, D, D, UTIL, G

- W spots can be filled with a RW or LW

- The UTIL spot can be filled with any skater, but not a goalie

POINT SCORING

* Players will accumulate points as follows:

  • Goal = 3 pts
  • Assist = 2 pts
  • Shot on goal = 0.5 pts
  • Blocked shot = 0.5 pts
  • Short-handed point bonus (goal/assist) = 1 pt
  • Shootout goal = 0.2 pts
  • Hat trick bonus = 1.5 pts

* Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:

  • Win = 3 pts
  • Save = 0.2 pts
  • Goal against = - 1 pt
  • Shutout bonus = 2 pts

* Goalie scoring notes:

  • Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals/assists
  • The goalie shutout bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation and overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.

Here is the team we put together for this Tuesday:

The Flyers have given up at least 4 goals in their last 4 games, so we are targeting a few Blackhawks goal scorers. Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews make the cut here and should provide plenty of goal-scoring chances.

Rick Nash has gotten off to a hot start and scored a league-leading 7th goal against the Sharks this Sunday. Nash’s teammate behind the net, Henrik Lundqvist, has put up great numbers in his career when facing the New Jersey Devils. The two Rangers veterans are consistent and safe picks.

Henrik Zetterberg scored a game-winner against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, to follow up a four-assist effort on Friday. We think the Red Wings center should see continued success when he travels to Montreal this Tuesday.

With a 10-game slate this Tuesday, there are plenty of different options to go with when filling out your team, but our suggestions should help guide you in the right direction. Make sure tosign up at DraftKings today to play for your share of $75,000. New users will also receive a free $2 entry into an additional league and you will also receive a matching deposit bonus (up to $600).
