Capitals' Laich placed on injured reserve, will miss at least 3 games

The Washington Capitals placed forward Books Laich on injured reserve Monday, and head coach Barry Trotz ruled him out of the club's upcoming three-game road trip.

"I think we're looking at probably the first game back from the trip [Oct. 29 against the Detroit Red Wings]," Trotz told Adam Vingan of NBC Washington. "Not too serious but serious enough where I don't think he will be quite effective for us in the three games.

"It's not a six-week thing. I think it's a week to 10 days and he should be ready to roll."

Laich, who recorded one assist in five games this season, suffered an upper-body injury during Saturday's game against the Florida Panthers.
