Sabres' 1st-round pick Reinhart scratched Saturday vs. Bruins

Timothy T. Ludwig / USA TODAY Sports

After five NHL games, the Buffalo Sabres have decided rookie Sam Reinhart needs to sit one out.

The second overall pick at the 2014 Draft will be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Boston Bruins, according to head coach Ted Nolan.

Reinhart failed to register his first NHL point in five games this season, firing only two pucks on net.

The Sabres don't have to make a decision on his immediate future until after he plays nine games, but it seems likely - if not prudent - that he'll be sent back to the OHL in the coming days.
