NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Pekka Rinne made 31 saves to earn his 33rd career shutout as the Nashville Predators spoiled the Winnipeg Jets' home opener with a 2-0 win on Friday night.

James Neal, acquired from Pittsburgh in an offseason trade, scored his first goal of the season and Mike Ribeiro added a tally for Nashville, which played its first road game after going 2-0-1 on a season-opening homestand.

"I thought that it was a really good team effort," said Rinne. "We battled hard. Our backs were against the wall a few times there."

Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves for the Jets, who have totaled one goal while losing three straight. They scored six in Arizona to begin the season.

"We're giving up the right amount of shots defensively, we're keeping that even-strength shot total close to 20, and that's a positive," Jets head coach Paul Maurice said. "We just need to score a few more goals, clearly, to win hockey games."

Ribeiro deflected Seth Jones' point shot past Pavelec, giving Nashville a 1-0 lead with 3:40 remaining in the first period.

Neal, a former 40-goal scorer, lit the lamp off a feed from Filip Forsberg at 7:31 of the third period.
