Ducks' Heatley on groin injury: 'Hopefully ... I'm just going to wake up and be ready to go'

The Anaheim Ducks placed forward Dany Heatley on injured reserve the day before the season started.

Now four games into the Ducks' season, he still isn't ready to get in the lineup.

Heatley told Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, "It’s been getting better. Hopefully one day, I'm just going to wake up and be ready to go."

When Heatley practiced with his penciled-in linemates Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, the line had chemistry. That's exactly what the Ducks hoped for. Though, they haven't yet been able to test it in the regular season.

"I thought I had a good camp," Heatley said. "It was frustrating to start this way. I'm getting good time in the gym and on the ice. Hopefully when I'm ready, I'll be really sharp."

Head coach Bruce Boudreau wants Heatley in the lineup just as much as Heatley wants to get off the sidelines. "I'm sure he's dying ... chomping at the bit, but he's not ready. So if he's not ready, we don't want to re-hurt you."
