Patrick Kaleta took a puck to the face during the preseason and is eager to step back on the ice, reports the Olean Times Herald.

Kaleta (face) resumed skating this week, the Olean Times Herald reports.

Analysis:

It has been a really tough two years for Kaleta. After getting demoted to the AHL for reckless play, Kaleta suffered a season-ending ACL injury in October and then took a puck to the face during camp that required extensive facial surgery. The physical right winger is ready to make a triumphant return to the NHL. Time will tell if Kaleta has cleaned up his game or not, but the Sabres could certainly use his presence in the lineup. Kaleta will not play Friday.
