Reto Berra: Leaves Thursday With Apparent Leg Injury

Berra left Thursday's start against the Senators with an apparent right leg injury, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

The news represents a doomsday scenario for the Avs, who placed Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve earlier in the day and were counting on Berra to hold down the fort for at least the next three games. The severity of his injury isn't known yet, but he seemed to be in a lot of pain after colliding with Ottawa's Mark Stone. The recently recalled Calvin Pickard, who wasn't even at morning skate earlier in the day, will take over in the net for Berra while the Avalanche await word on his prognosis.
