Calgary Flames first-round draft pick Sam Bennett underwent successful shoulder surgery Wednesday and remains on track to return to the ice in four-to-six months.

“(The surgery) went well,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving told the Calgary Sun. “The comments from the doctors was that once they got in there, they (confirmed) they needed to do it and there was nothing unforeseen, no surprises, no new discoveries - and he’s on the road to recovery.”

Bennett is expected to join the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs later this season, but for now he's at home watching the Flames on TV and sending shout-outs to goalie Jonas Hiller after his 49-save performance in a win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
