The Blackhawks dictated the pace and controlled puck possession for most of the contest, outshooting Calgary 50-18 and drawing seven minor penalties in the process. The only reason the Flames escaped with an overtime victory was the play of netminder Jonas Hiller.

Hiller made 18 of his 49 saves in the first period alone, including this sprawling stop on Daniel Carcillo:

The Blackhawks pressed even more after Calgary took a 1-0 lead in the second period, but Hiller stood tall facing a 2-on-1 from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp and flashed the leather on Brandon Saad early in the third period.

Chicago forward Andrew Shaw eventually scored on a power play to force overtime, but Mikael Backlund rewarded Hiller's stellar effort by scoring the winning goal for Calgary 4:35 into the extra period.
