GIF: Flyers' Mason misplays rebound, sets up Ducks' Jackman

Eric Hartline / USA Today

Philadelphia Flyers netminder Steve Mason entered the season trying to live up to his first full campaign with the team, which was also his best performance given that it earned him the Calder Trophy in 2009.

If Mason wants to do that, he'll need do better with his rebound control.

Mason decided to bat a loose puck aside after stopping a point shot in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, but he sent it right to Ducks forward Tim Jackman, who knocked it into the open net before Mason could realize what he did.

The goal is Jackman's first of the season. In 429 career NHL games, Jackman has 27 goals - including just 11 since the start of the 2011-12 season - and 721 penalty minutes. Not exactly the kind of player who should be putting the puck in the net.
