NHL Game Summary - Ottawa at Florida

Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Clarke MacArthur scored the game's only goal and Craig Anderson made 30 saves to shut out the Florida Panthers in a 1-0 victory for the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

MacArthur's goal at the 15:34 mark of the second period, in addition to Anderson's whitewash, helped Ottawa finish off its season-opening road trip with a 2-1-0 record.

"It was huge for us, as a group, to follow it up with two wins," Anderson said about a season-opening loss. "That's what it comes down to. You have to figure out how to win."

Roberto Luongo made 22 saves for the winless Panthers, who went 0-for-3 on the power play.

"He stops the puck," Luongo said of his counterpart. "He looked in control tonight."

A scoreless first period was summed up in the closing minutes when Florida's Brad Boyes came in on a breakaway and failed to even get a shot off.

Panthers forward Nick Bjugstad was whistled for hooking late in the second, and Ottawa cashed in on the power play, as MacArthur came in on a rush and split a pair of defenders before backhanding the puck between Luongo's legs.

Luongo made several big saves in the third period to keep the Panthers within one, but the Panthers never made serious headway even after pulling him down the stretch.
