Rangers' Hayes makes roster, day-to-day with shoulder injury

The New York Rangers went after college free-agent forward Kevin Hayes hard this summer, and they'll put him to work right away according to Sean Hartnett.
It appears that Kevin Hayes will not be placed on the IR. It's a short-term shoulder injury. With Hayes, Rangers roster is at the max of 23.

Hayes, although unable to play in the season opener Thursday against the St. Louis Blues, will travel with the team and try to crack the lineup on Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
